Senior Network Engineer.

The Senior Network Engineer is accountable for serving as a primary engineer on dedicated client accounts, as well as handle extra support and project work. The Senior Network Engineer will focus on proactively maintaining their clients’ network environments, which includes performing server maintenance, daily task list items and making the necessary recommendations to achieve network integrity and stability.

Responsibilities.

  • Provide on-site and remote technical support for our diverse client base
  • Troubleshoot network infrastructure and make recommendations for system fixes and enhancements
  • Manage routers, servers, switches, firewalls and network management software
  • Maintain current Microsoft environments
  • Manage backup, antivirus and anti-spam solutions
  • Develop knowledge of virtual environments
  • Work with PMO to participate in project work, both in a lead role and team member capacity
  • Collaborate with network engineers, architects and other team members on the implementation, testing, deployment and integration of network systems
  • Work with C-Level decision makers in assisting with business initiative and technology planning
  • Mentor team members and engineer
  • Travel to client sites throughout CT; some out of state travel may occasionally be required


Qualifications.

 

  • 5+ years' technical experience in multiple client environments on a consultative basis
  • Industry certifications required: CS/MIS or industry related degree preferred
  • Server Infrastructure: Current Windows OS, Virtual Hypervisors (VMware ESXi, HyperV, Scale Computing, KVM) with the ability to perform normal updates and upgrades as well as maintenance
  • Networking Experience: Business Class Hardware Firewalls (Sophos, FortiGate, SonicWALL), VPN Appliances, SPAM and Web Filters: business-class wireless solutions, business grade switches (Aruba, Cisco, Dell, Extreme) with the ability to implement Layer 2 network VLANs and Layer 3 routing utilizing static routes
  • Experience with Dell and HP Server/Infrastructure, backup solutions and disaster recovery planning
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask
  • Demonstrated skillset in working collaboratively with clients, and cross functional teams
  • Effective problem solver, maintaining positive and proactive demeanor in high stress situations
  • Effective and empathetic communicator with ability to work effectively with challenging situations and with challenging clients/customers
  • Demonstrated experience as a team /peer leader
  • Strong proactive nature, takes initiative and is highly solution oriented
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
