Town of Farmington Marks The Walker Group’s 40 Years of Innovation and Impact with Proclamation

The Town of Farmington has issued a proclamation recognizing The Walker Group’s 40th anniversary and four decades of contributions to the local business community.

Dated October 21, 2026, the proclamation honors the company’s technology leadership, innovation, and enduring belief that business success and social responsibility can and should go hand-in-hand.

Founded by Kate Emery in 1986, The Walker Group has spent 40 years helping organizations navigate a changing technology landscape. Although its services have evolved, one principle has remained constant: technology works best when it serves people.

A Legacy of Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship

The proclamation recognizes The Walker Group as a pioneer in social entrepreneurship and their  pursuit of positive social impact alongside business success.

The company became one of Connecticut’s first registered Benefit Corporations, formally committing to consider the interests of employees, communities, and other stakeholders alongside simple financial performance.

In 2023, The Walker Group became Connecticut’s first company owned by a Perpetual Purpose Trust. This structure is designed to protect the company’s mission and independence while preserving its commitment to employees and the community for future generations.

Together, these milestones reflect The Walker Group’s conviction that a technology company can be both profitable and a force for good.

High Tech, Human Touch

Technology has changed dramatically since The Walker Group opened its doors in 1986. The company has adapted alongside those changes while continuing to build lasting partnerships with the people behind the organizations it serves.

Its philosophy is captured in the tagline High Tech, Human Touch. Exceptional technology service requires technical expertise, but it also depends on trust, an understanding of each client’s needs, and a commitment to helping people succeed.

Today, co-CEOs Jessica Rich and Todd Bailey continue to build on the foundation established by Kate Emery, combining technology expertise with a people-centered approach to business.

Creating a Positive Ripple Effect

The proclamation also highlights The Walker Group’s goal of creating a positive ripple effect by inspiring people and businesses to recognize how their actions can strengthen their communities.

That belief is reflected in the company’s 40 Acts of Impact initiative, a year-long anniversary effort encouraging employees to use their paid community service benefits and contribute their personal time, skills, and energy to organizations across Connecticut.

Through organized service projects, volunteering, mentoring, and sharing professional expertise, employees are finding new ways to build on The Walker Group’s longstanding commitment to community service.

Looking Ahead

The Town of Farmington’s proclamation is both a celebration of The Walker Group’s history and an affirmation of its continued role in the business community.

The company is grateful to the Town and to the employees, clients, and partners that have contributed to its success.

As technology evolves and organizations face new challenges, The Walker Group remains committed to delivering exceptional technology services, building community, and creating a positive impact.

Forty years after its founding, that commitment continues to define the next chapter of High Tech, Human Touch.
